The trip to Kailash is annually conducted in different batches through different routes. After the proper medical examination and registration, you are selected to go on this trip. The trip includes trekking at a height of about 20000 feet. Devotees of Lord Shiva also consider, Mount Kailash as the universe’s spiritual centre.

People visit Mansarovar Lake, as it is believed to clean human sins and give them peace. A fun fact about this lake is that it is one of the highest lakes with freshwater in the whole world. Every year the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is organized by external affairs ministry usually from the beginning of June to the end of September.

The duration of this trip for a particular batch is about 20 to 25 days. Another hidden gem of this trip is mini Kashmir ‘Bhadarwah’ which is located at the Himalayan foothills. Bhadarwah is a beautiful town that should not be avoided on this trip.

Process Of Selection

The criteria to get selected for this trip are not very complex, you are required to be the citizen of India and hold a valid passport.

Along with that, due to extreme conditions and physical labour during the trip, it is important for you to be fit. People with serious health issues are advised to avoid applying for this trip. If you are less than 18 years or more then 70 years old, you are not eligible for this trip. Applicants with the following medical conditions are not eligible to apply for this trip-

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Heart Disease
  • Epilepsy

If you have any of the medical conditions mentioned above and you apply for this trip, your application will be rejected. The final decision of selecting a candidate to go on the mystic Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is in the hands of MEA. They select the candidates through the computerized process.

 Kailash Mansarovar Yatra: Know Your Surroundings

The weather changes quite frequently in Kailash so it is better to know your surroundings. During the time of the trip that is from June to the month of September, the weather is cold yet pleasant.

Afternoons are usually windy and temperature lies within 14 to 18 degree Celsius. However, morning and nights are colder, if weather conditions are unfavourable the temperature might get as low as 0 degree Celsius.

People often prefer to spend more time in Bhadarwah during their trip to Kailash due to its comforting atmosphere. It is also advised that people with breathing problem should avoid this trek due to the altitude.
